Doula Support

Doulas are professionals trained to offer emotional and physical support to expecting parents and their partners throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. It is your right to be informed and respected, no matter where or how you choose to give birth. Our doulas can provide a wide range of services, including helping parents prepare for childbirth, providing continuous support during labor, advocating for the parents' wishes during delivery, and offering postpartum support and guidance.

While doula prices may vary, ranging from $1,100 to $1,300 for full spectrum support (including three prenatal visits, support during labor and delivery, and three postpartum visits), each doula is free to set their own fees. Doulas of Douglas County is proud to offer free support to Black and Brown birthing individuals.

Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding can be a wonderful bonding experience between mother and baby, but it can also come with its challenges. Our doulas are trained Breastfeeding Peer Counselors who provide personalized assistance to new mothers and families in their homes, as well as over the phone or Zoom. We understand that every mother and baby are unique, and therefore require individualized support when it comes to breastfeeding. Whether you are struggling with latching, low milk supply, or just need some encouragement and guidance, our doulas are here to help. We are passionate about empowering mothers and families to achieve their breastfeeding goals and are committed to providing non-judgmental, compassionate care to all.

Placenta Encapsulation

Before deciding whether or not to undergo placenta encapsulation, it is important to assess the potential benefits and risks. Some possible advantages of this process include an increase in breast milk supply, replenishing iron stores post-birth, and alleviation of postpartum mood disorders.

Partnering with Embrace Your Blues, we now offer placenta encapsulation services. Feel free to contact Saterra Bell via phone or email to learn more about this service.

Infant and Toddler Care

All families should have access to high-quality infant and toddler child care. However, this isn't always the case, and Douglas County, like most places in Kansas, suffers from a lack of child care options. Brown Like Me Infant Toddler Care, LLC was established to go above and beyond in how we provide support to families served by the doulas. Owned and operated by Daneka Vann, a doula with our collective, Brown Like Me's mission is to offer safe, affordable, and high-quality care that creates a foundation for emotional, spiritual, physical, and intellectual growth in an environment that considers the whole child.

If you are a current or past family served by Doulas of Douglas County and require infant or toddler care, we encourage you to apply for a slot at Brown Like Me Infant Toddler Care. Please note that space is limited, and eligibility is limited to children aged 6 weeks to 36 months. Currently, there is a waiting list for qualified families.
